Dylox 6.2, manufactured by Bayer, is a granular insecticide that contains the active ingredient Trichlorfon and is used for the selective control of white grubs and other common turf insects that are known to damage plants on landscape and recreational turfgrass.
This product can even penetrate thatch up to 1/2 inch thick. It provides rapid curative grub control in as little as 24 hours and has a longer effective application window than most competitors.
Dylox 6.2 is easy to apply and can be part of a solid long-term strategy that will keep turf pests away all season long.
Tools Needed
To use Dylox 6.2, you will need a broadcast push spreader or drop type spreader.
Do not apply this product using hand-held or chest-mounted spreaders. Aerial application is prohibited.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Dylox 6.2 you need by calculating the square footage of the area to be treated. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the length and width of your yard (length x width = square footage). To treat sod webworms, cranberry girdler, cutworm, and armyworms, use 2 pounds of products per 1,000 square feet. To treat for root-feeding insects such as white grub larvae, chinch bugs, and billbugs you should use the product at a rate of 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet. So for example, if your yard is 2,000 square feet and you want to treat for sod webworms, you would need 4 pounds of Dylox 6.2.
- Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the granules into the spreader. The label provides you with the proper calibration recommendation.
- Step 3: Uniformly spread the Dylox 6.2 granules across your lawn, this may take at least two walkthroughs, perpendicular to each other, for even coverage.
- Step 4: Water the treated area to activate the insecticide. Wait a minimum of 7 days to retreat. Limit the number of applications to turf 3 times per calendar year.
